We have tried growing a garden over the years, with limited success. Some years better than others. We haven't really tried for several years. It is VERY hard to grow a garden in the desert. And probably more expensive than it is worth.............nevertheless, we have been asked to grow a garden for years, so we tried again this year. We had a small one last year, but this year's is a little bigger. Of course it doesn't compare with Mom and Dad's humongous garden. But we're kind of proud of it. We are enjoying our zuchini (I'm not sure I am spelling that right, but I'm too lazy to look it up) that we have been picking daily now (and sharing with friends). Hopefully next week we will have ripe tomatoes. We have lots of onions and some cilantro and peppers, so salsa will be in the making soon! Here we are in our "American Gothic" pose.
We got a little crazy with the zuchini, and we have LOTS. Wish you all were close enough that we could share with you!
We will be making zuchini bread by the dozen, I fear. I took some to work today, and it is new enough that everyone was quick to take it. As the summer goes on, we'll see if that continues.
We had fun doing this together. We worked together to plant and water it and now we are having fun going out each day to see what we can pick.
As soon as we get home we hurry out to check on our garden. The real heat arrived last week, so we'll see how long we can keep it alive!

I can't believe how huge everything is! It was all just barely coming up the last time I saw it. All that green probably looks really nice in the backyard. I'm so jealous that you will have fresh tomatoes and salsa! What a fun project to do together. Oh and I love the picture of you guys re-enacting American Gothic!
i wish i could eat some of that zuchini. your garden is so big and it looks good. i agree with cass about your american gothic picture. its funny.
Wow! I'm really impressed. Your garden looks amazing. I've never had any desire to garden and just felt guilty and annoyed (yes, I admit it) that I was supposed to. However, the past few months I have felt a strange and unexpected urge to start gardening. So once we buy a house I may be coming to you for gardening tips.
Looks great! Nice that you can share the wealth with people. Your picture made me smile--did you just prop up the camera on something?
love the garden. ty and i giggled at how posed that picture of jeff must have been...
Your garden is beautiful! Good job, guys. I'm jealous - ours is very small. And I love the American Gothic remake. Nice.
